Summary of Duties:    

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the transportation of program Participants upon release from designated CDCR institution locations to locations as identified by the receiving STOP Placement Office and upon completion of STOP services to the Participant’s parole unit.  The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for carrying out the directions and decisions of the Program Director through the provision of direct operational oversight of transportation services for STOP Program Areas.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  1. Coordinate and facilitate required transportation of Participants into and within Program Area
  2. Communicate directly with CSRs to develop and implement effective transportation plans to ensure portal to portal transportation of Participants into Program Area
  3. Establish and maintain accurate tracking system of transportation, including efficient, cost-effective driver schedules, maximizing funding utilization and efficient transportation, ensuring Participant retention
  4. Work in collaboration with Transportation Coordinators in other Program Areas to facilitate transportation by and between multiple Program Areas within the State of California, maximizing funding utilization and efficient transportation, and ensuring Participant retention
  5. Ensure that corrective action plans resulting from program audits are implemented and assesses the effectiveness of corrective actions taken in close collaboration with the Compliance Coordinator and under the direction of the STOP Program Director
  6. Identify and conduct any additional required and/or needed training sessions
  7. Develop strategies with relevant stakeholders to best serve the target population
  8. In close collaboration with the Compliance Coordinator provide trainings, as needs are determined, for STOP, In-custody and CBP staff thereby increasing the level of accountability and professionalism of all stakeholders
  9. Assist Compliance Coordinator in the development and maintenance of quality control procedures to ensure high quality service
  10. Assist in resolving programmatic and personnel problems
  11. Assist other managers in monitoring the transportation processes

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge
    • Understanding of the critical nature of portal-to-portal transportation in the retention process of Participants
    • Extensive knowledge of the transitional process, both documentation and operational, between in-custody and community-based modalities/programs
    • Possess excellent knowledge of English and spelling
    • Possess a level of maturity to deal with sensitive issues
    • Know and comply with program documentation requirements, applicable ethical and professional standards of conduct

 

  • Skills
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Possess excellent organizational and time management skills, as well as an ability to train subordinate office staff in use of same
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as government regulations, legal documents, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

 

  • Abilities
    • Provide effective supervision of Drivers
    • Possess the skills necessary to implement the transportation plan and consult as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
    • Able to operate a PC with basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Access

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience coordinating delivery of transportation services and planning transportation for multiple drivers
  • Experience with criminal justice population is preferred
  • Have a minimum of one (1) year of documented verifiable supervisory experience
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
