Summary:  

This position assesses employee training needs and provides ongoing training and support while serving as a role model by leading, directing and guiding them in a way that promotes their growth and development. 

Essential Functions:

  • Provides feedback and supervision to direct care staff during orientation and throughout their introductory period and provides ongoing feedback while on the job.
  • Assists the Program Manager/Senior Treatment Supervisor with on the job training of supervisors and staff by spending time on the units observing and providing direct and indirect feedback on staff performance.
  • Supervises, assists with hiring, and evaluates staff performance; develops measurable objectives for necessary improvements and implements appropriate corrective action to staff adhering to human resources policies and utilizing Human Resources when necessary.
  • Develops, schedules, and assists with orientation training for all new staff.
  • Develops and delivers pertinent and required on-going training programs for operations.
  • Develops and implements training activities for new programs under the direction of the Training Manager.
  • Participates in staff meetings by sharing observations and recommendations regarding the administrative office, facilities and staff relations to identify and resolve problems and function as a unified team.
  • Maintains confidentiality obtained through job duties regarding employees, vendors, residents, and outside agencies so that sensitive information is only given on a "need to know" basis.
  • Complies with company safety rules; takes appropriate corrective action to ensure work is performed in a safe manner and without injury to self or others.
  • Participates in team meetings as needed and share observations and recommendations regarding the facility, clients and staff relations in order to identify and solve problems.
  • Participates in daily shift change meetings to disseminate information to staff on resident status and facility issues. Attends and participates in scheduled staff meetings as required.
  • Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and provides effective supervision to staff regarding the use of SCM.

Job Requirements



Minimum Requirements: 

  • The following educational requirements are acceptable for this classification including:
    • Bachelor’s degree; OR
    • Associate’s degree or 60 college credits and three years related experience working with children
    • Certified as an American Red Cross Trainer and SCM trainer.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, include days, evenings and weekends in order to work with all staff. This schedule will be set to meet facility needs and can change with at the discretion of the Training Manager and facility leadership.
  • Other Qualifications:
    • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
    • Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI).
    • Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
    • Valid driver's license from employee’s state of residence.
    • Valid registered vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
