Summary

This position develops and implements comprehensive treatment plans for a caseload of inmates. Accordingly, it assesses and identifies clinical issues and creates clear objectives and goals. It also tracks and documents inmate progress in case reports while working to meet all required internal and external contract standards and policies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides case management and individual and group counseling for an assigned caseload of inmates, create, update and maintain case records
  • Utilizes crisis intervention techniques if an emergency situation arises
  • Utilizes conflict resolution strategies
  • Completes comprehensive assessment of inmates’ substance abuse history and treatment requirements and develops individualized treatment plan. Document all assessment and treatment planning
  • Presents individual counseling/group lectures and didactic presentations weekly based on the areas of Relapse Prevention, Anger Management, Parenting skills, Life Skills, Criminal & Addictive Behaviors, and Co-occurring disorders.

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in any unrelated area of study; and one (1) year of professional experience in chemical addiction counseling and/or mental health counseling; or
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in any of the social sciences; and six (6) months of professional experience in chemical addiction counseling and/or mental health counseling; or
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in any unrelated area of study; and one (1) year of professional experience in chemical addiction counseling and/or mental health counseling; or
  • Certified Addictions Professional (CAP), Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional (CCJAP), Certified Associate Addictions Professional (CAAP), Certified Criminal Justice Associate Addictions Professional (CCJAAP); or
  • An Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional experience in chemical addiction counseling and/or mental health counseling; or
  • A High School diploma/GED and six (6) years of professional experience in chemical addiction counseling and/or mental health counseling.
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
