Summary

This position is responsible for assisting with the accounting for income taxes for the Company and its domestic and foreign affiliates by preparing the consolidated income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740 standards and reviewing federal and state income tax returns using tax provision and compliance software.  The individual must undertake extensive self-review to prepare a solid work product that requires limited changes upon higher level review as well as ensures that proper information is maintained for future reference as part of our annual and permanent records. Preparation of memoranda documenting the Company’s income tax accounting position.  The individual assists and works with outside Tax Professionals as required.

 



Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with preparing the quarterly and annual global tax provision under ASC 740.
  • Prepares required disclosures and schedules of all SEC filings including but not limited to Form 10-Q and 10-K.
  • Assists with or reviews work of others, as applicable for all US consolidated corporate income tax (federal and state) and other related tax calculations, including preparation or review of detailed workpapers supporting all tax provision items and related tax positions. An exceptional high level of quality with need for limited changes upon review is expected.
  • Assists with administrative role and key process owner in the tax provision software.
  • Assists with acquisition due diligence on accounting for income taxes.
  • Conducts tax and tax accounting research & planning assignments.
  • Maintains general ledger balances of selected tax accounts, including performing related quarterly reconciliations.
  • Works closely with accounting and other groups to obtain and validate information for quarterly and annual tax provision.
  • Assists with preparation of detailed schedules and workpapers for domestic and foreign tax provision calculations.
  • Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and accounting guidance on accounting for income taxes that are expected to impact the company.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of applicable foreign statutory tax rates and withholding taxes
  • Assists with documentation and implementation of tax policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Job Requirements



Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in taxation required and CPA a plus. Four (4) years of experience in the tax area.
  • Must have experience with federal and multi-state tax compliance. Experience with partnership taxation (federal/state compliance and research) a plus.
  • Experience with accounting for income taxes software. Experience in Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Provision software is preferred.
  • Experience with Hyperion/Essbase/SmartView including create Ad Hoc report and other Excel add-ins a plus
  • A strong conceptual understanding of accounting and financial statements is preferred.
  • Must present effective oral and written communication skills. Must possess strong organizational skills and work-paper techniques. Must be a confident decision-maker able to produce accurate results with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess strong Excel and other computer skills. Ability to organize, download and upload large data files.
  • Experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource Income Tax Compliance software a plus.
  • Ability to read and analyze financial reports and legal documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and general public. 
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
