Summary:  
This is a Senior Counselor position providing a full range of services directed toward the therapeutic care and rehabilitation of adolescent or delinquent substance abusers.  Incumbent participates in the planning, organization and delivery of cross-disciplinary services, according to individual skills and abilities.
 
Essential Functions:

 

  • Performs individual, group, and family counseling under the direction of a Clinical Supervisor; performance includes intensive outpatient and outpatient group counseling, home/community-based individual and family counseling, teaching life skills, case management, and crisis intervention.
  • Prepares individualized treatment plans, monthly progress reports and weekly court reports on client’s acceptance to treatment, behavior, attitude, achievement, education, and overall progress in the program.
  • Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care. 

 

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum education
    • High school diploma or GED and 30 credit hours of college education or accredited training program in substance abuse counseling and/or other human services area.
    • Higher education given preference
  • Required certification or license:
  • IAODAPCA certification CADC (CRADC/MISA I preferred), LSW, LCSW, LPC or LCPC.
  • Minimum experience required
  • No Degree: Five years paid work experience in substance abuse correctional, or other human service counseling position.

OR

  • Associate Degree: Four years paid work experience in substance abuse, correctional, or other human service counseling position.

OR

  • Bachelors Degree: Three years paid work experience in substance abuse, correctional, or other human services counseling position.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
