Cheyenne Mountain ReEntry Center is a medium security prison that houses 700+ male offenders.


This position serves as a correctional officer.  Manage and supervise offenders.  Maintains an orderly environment within the assigned unit or area of the facility and performs standard operating procedures in accordance with facility policies and procedures as required by Company and the client’s contractual requirement.  This position follows daily schedules and performs the duties of this position in an exemplary manner at all times.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises all offenders movement within the assigned unit or area.
  • Reports offender accidents or injuries to supervisor.
  • Provides orientation to new residents and discharges others
  • Performs scheduled offender headcounts and completes written count reports.
  • Conducts daily inspections and searches of offenders sleeping quarters and body searches as necessary.
  • Reports all offender behavioral problem incidents in writing to supervisor and conducts appropriate crisis intervention.
  • Collects urine samples for random and routine substance abuse screenings of offenders and monitors drug testing.
  • Transports offenders by company vehicle to out-of-facility appointments.
  • Monitors security cameras to maintain safe and secure orderly environment for offenders.
  • Enforces the facility’s rules of conduct with the offenders.
  • Supervises offender visitations.
  • Serves as a positive role model for offenders.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned or required. 


Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year general work experience.

Required Competencies:

  • Ability to serves as a model for resident behavior.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in law enforcement, detention or in corrections.
  • Knowledge of the field of addictions or mental health counseling preferred.
  • Experience working with computers and various software typically used by the department.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime.
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts
  • Must successful pass a pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.
