Summary

This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction for operational planning, allocation of resources (staff, supplies, equipment and space), the development of service delivery standards, and the integration of quality improvement initiatives and risk management for health and behavioral health services throughout the region.  This position plays an active role in professional education, developing and implementing strategies to address utilization, and providing leadership and support. 



Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assures the comprehensive development and implementation of policies and procedures for medical and nursing operations which includes demonstrating knowledge of the job responsibilities and procedures to follow in the event of an incident or emergency and demonstrating knowledge of responsibility regarding actions to minimize, eliminate, and report risks.
  • Serves as a resource on healthcare treatment issues and provide guidance.
  • Supervises the medical department to ensure high quality patient care which includes scheduling and training assigned employees, evaluating their performance, developing action plans, and implementing corrective action as required.
  • Monitors assigned personnel submission of monthly reports for timeliness and accuracy and monitors and implements policy and procedures in order to ensure a productive work environment with mechanisms of accountability.
  • Directs quality and performance improvement activities to meet standards and enhance the strategic planning for the organization, which includes assisting Performance Improvement staff to develop and maintain management systems and statistical databases to provide leadership with information and analysis to be used in planning and decision-making regarding resource utilization.
  • Monitors Risk Management activities for the facility and monitors the behavioral healthcare activities to ensure JCAHO accreditation and state, federal, or other regulatory standards are maintained.
  • Monitors the functioning of the medical department’s activities to ensure efficient effective health promotion procedures and practices.
  • Adheres to all regulations surrounding confidentiality, treatment expectations, and program development.
  • Identifies potential conflicts or problems and implements appropriate crisis intervention techniques to prevent or intervene in crisis situations in order to deter or impact effect of problem.
  • Develops and maintains professional boundaries with staff, clients, and other collateral relationships and identifies issues as identified in the Code of Ethics.
  • Serves as the infection control officer for the facility which includes monitoring the infection control activities and reporting significant findings to the Medical Director. 
  • Maintains confidentiality of information as it relates to client information.

 

 

Job Requirements



Minimum Requirements

  • Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the state in which this position is located.
  • Three (3) years of nursing experience, including at least one year as a nurse manager or director.  Experience working with adolescents and substance abusers preferred.
  • Experience in the management of multi-disciplinary clinical programs and delivery of services in a multi-cultural environment is desirable. 
  • Ability to plan strategically and manage change. 
  • Knowledge of pertinent accreditation bodies such as JCAHO is desirable. 
  • Ability to compose a variety correspondence such as memorandums, letters, agendas, or summaries, in a clear and concise manner.  May be required to proofread the work of others and suggest changes when necessary.
  • Ability to speak clearly when interacting with others in person or while on the telephone.  Must be able to ask questions when assignments are unclear or ambiguous.  Must be able to communicate with staff, officials, clients and the general public.
  • Ability to complete assignments accurately and within the given deadlines.  Must be able to plan accordingly when deadlines of current projects change.
  • Ability to work independently and in group settings.  Must be willing to lead the work of others.
  • Working knowledge of all software applications used by the supported group.  This typically includes using word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, charts and database software applications.  Must be able to determine when various software applications should be integrated together when completing assignments.  In addition, must be able to functionally use any other software applications that are unique to the business unit where this position operates.
  • Working knowledge of various equipment typically found in an office environment.
  • Other Qualifications:
    • At least twenty-one (21) years of age
    • Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI)
    • Non-communicable diseases physical exam
    • Valid driver's license
    • Valid registered vehicle insurance
