Summary:

This position is responsible for independently coordinating the functions of the facility and the delivery of program services. It ensures that operations are provided in accordance with Medicaid, Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and Governor’s Office on the Continuum of Care as well as the State Department of Social Services (SDSS) standards and Company policies and procedures.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs, oversees, and provides initial training to staff on strategies to encourage positive change in accordance with program philosophy.
  • Supervises, assists with hiring, and evaluates staff performance; develops measurable objectives for necessary improvements and implements appropriate corrective action to staff adhering to human resources policies and utilizing Human Resources when necessary.
  • Designs, facilitates, and implements staff ongoing development plans.
  • Audits facility’s processed and procedures to ensure that programs complies with licensing standards. Oversees risk management issues as they relate to program activities.
  • Maintains favorable relationships with community agencies and community-based services.
  • Coordinates the development of new program activities.
  • Ensures staff receives the required new hire and annual training as it relates to program requirements. Coordinates transportation of students to medical and other appointments such as court appearances.  Acts a director when director absent from premises.
  • Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care. Demonstrates appropriate use of crisis intervention techniques and skills.

 

Job Requirements

The following education requirements are acceptable for this classification including:

  • High school diploma or GED and two years supervisory experience; Bachelor’s and prior experience in related field preferred.

Other Qualifications:

  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Criminal Background checks (Federal, State, Sex Offender, and Child Abuse registry).
  • Pre-employment physical exam and drug screen.
  • Valid driver's license from employee’s State of residence.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
