Facility: WESTERN REGION DETENTION FACILITY AT SAN DIEGO

Compensation Base: $17.51

Summary

  • This position assigns work to inmates and track, records, and ensures payment for work provided. 


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assigns inmates to various work programs.
  • Creates new work assignments and job descriptions as facility needs arise.
  • Ensures accurate collection and data entry of time sheets to proper inmate pay. Maintains inmate time, sick and vacation records.
  • Develops and submits weekly payroll tracking reports to the inmate accounts/ payroll system, as well as, monthly reports as required.
  • Responds to staff and inmate inquiries regarding payroll issues, status of inmate work application, open positions, hiring and pay rates.
  • Prepares inmate training forms and performance evaluations as well as other required forms for new hires.
  • Maintains inmate worker files including but not limited to hires, promotions, transfers, performance evaluations and terminations.
  • Assists Inmate Records as needed.
  • Adheres to GEO’s policies, procedures, and specific facility regulations including posted special orders and instructions.
  • Meets multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines and works well with all levels of management. Must be able to work and interact with others in a harmonious and professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements



Minimum Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Additional college business courses desired. 
  • Two (2) years of experience in highly responsible administrative work.
  • Thorough knowledge of office procedures with sound business practices.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and knowledge in the performance of complex, confidential, and difficult duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
  • Must be at least 21 year of age.
