Summary

This position assists a geographic region of facilities in their Division in the analysis, design, implementation, operation and support of Information Technology (IT) in such areas including system and data networking; design and placement of computer systems and camera and other surveillance equipment, hardware and software operations, training and security. In addition, this position installs, tests, and maintains Information Technology hardware and software.  Also performs system administration functions, resolves routine system problems and may be subject to call-in or required to respond on short notice to Information Technology related emergencies. This position requires frequent travel between facilities.

 



Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifies and recommends new Information Technology projects, services, or procedures to increase efficiency and productivity and decrease cost for a facility.
  • Develops IT request for proposals (RFPs), analyzes incoming proposals, and provides initial recommendations based on services and costs.
  • Develop sources for IT hardware, software, and services to meet quality, delivery and price objectives of a facility.
  • Supports operations by ensuring orders are placed, services are provided, and end users are properly informed and training on operations.
  • Develops technical solutions to business information needs.
  • Ensures the best use of IT resources meeting the business needs for information technology.
  • Understands IT from an “end user” perspective and champions the acceptance and effective use of new technology and systems.
  • Provides technical support to ensure that personal computers, networks and servers (hardware and software) are performing properly.
  • Maintains security administration of systems and assigns local domain log-in profile and passwords for staff as necessary; ensures that users have access to appropriate applications and files that will allow them to perform their assigned duties.
  • Creates, maintains, modifies, and produces accurate and timely reports.
  • Maintains daily backups on LAN and restores when required.
  • Maintains security, operation and maintenance of system.
  • Ensures strict adherence to software licensing rules and maintains careful records.
  • Generates reports and summaries requiring technical expertise on utilization, projected needs and other areas as requested by management.
  • Assists in the installation and maintenance of voice and data communications.
  • Assists in the installation and maintenance of cameras and other surveillance equipment.
  • Responsible for special projects as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements



Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of five (5) years of work experience in a related role with experience in hardware and software operations. (Educational and progressive work experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree at management’s discretion.)
  • Ability to identify and solve computer problems and act independently with a wide variety of employees and vendors required.
  • Good troubleshooting skills and the ability to understand and resolve technical problems independently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable software and/or operating systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computers to solve business problems.
  • Ability to travel frequently with several overnight stays.
