Summary
This position manages federal, state, and local payroll tax processes for the organization. It also provides management and assistance with payroll information and analyses. This position spearheads payroll projects and initiatives related to tax reporting and payroll related projects.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax remittances and related reconciliations in an outsourced tax paying and reporting agent environment.
- Manages the investigation and responses to tax notices and correspondence in a timely manner.
- Manages payroll tax compliance with all federal, state and local agencies with the assistance of the company’s third-party tax paying and reporting vendor.
- Remains current on new state and federal legislation, regulations and rulings impacting the company’s payroll tax withholding and payment obligation.
- Responsible for the company’s compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and filing related payroll tax returns with the assistance of the company’s third-party tax paying and reporting vendor.
- Provides research, analysis and recommendations that lead to effective payroll tax process enhancements and strategies.
- Manages relationship with the third-party tax paying and reporting vendor including the maintenance of the tax interface.
- Registers employers with federal, state, and local authorities for new locations for all withholding and unemployment insurance taxes.
- Updates payroll system tax deductions, tax tables and third-party tax interfaces. Ensures the integrity of payroll tax data contained in the payroll database.
- Supervises the reconciliation of payroll tax reporting after each pay run to ensure accurate remittance and filing of data that is sent to the tax payment and reporting vendor.
- Provides guidance and direction on payroll tax matters to other corporate department and facility personnel.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of stock option and restricted stock transactions with the assistance of outside vendor.
- Responds and resolves inquiries from various tax agencies and employees in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collects and analyzes data for understanding, reporting, and reconciliation.
- Develops automation of collecting and analyzing data.
