The position is responsible for developing and maintaining educational programs and services, staff member development and supervision, and client discipline to ensure an educational environment conducive to learning.

Essential Functions:

  • Interprets and implements policies and procedures and state regulations and laws relevant to education and the operation of a privately licensed school.
  • Manage the overall operations of the school to include staff supervision, policy and procedure development, educational activities, and budgeting preparation.
  • Establish and maintain public relations programs that results in a cooperative working relationship between the school and external educational agencies.
  • Supervises, assists with hiring, and evaluates staff performance, develops measurable objectives for necessary improvements and implements appropriate corrective action to staff adhering to human resources policies and utilizing Human Resources when necessary.
  • Assist the appropriate administrative staff members to obtain, monitor, budget, and report school finances.
  • Establish and maintain efficient procedures and effective controls for all expenditures of school funds in accordance with the approved budget.
  • Ensure filing of all necessary reports as required by the State’s Department of Education.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of quality education curriculum, programs, instructional methodologies, and etc. that are consistent with the assessed individualized needs, abilities, and clients’ interests.
  • Coordinate and implement with the appropriate training department to develop an annual and professional development plan for all educational staff members.
  • Work with appropriate clinical staff members to assess community and client needs to ensure the integration of treatment processes along with educational processes.
  • Assumes responsibility for monitoring the planning and preparation for school events such as field trips, school store and external speakers.
  • Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements: 

The following educational requirements are acceptable for this classification including:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and minimum three (3) years primary/secondary education related experience and two (2) years supervisory related experience.
    • Other Qualifications:
      • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
      • Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI).
      • Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
      • Valid driver's license from employee’s state of residence.
      • Valid registered vehicle insurance.
