Job Description

The Drug & Alcohol (D&A) Counselor provides a full range of counseling services to delinquent/dependent youth with substance abuse/use problems.

           Duties ,Responsibilities:

  • Assures quality and continuity of D&A and curriculum within established parameters.
  •  Assures compliance with applicable licensing and regulatory agencies in regards to the D & A program.
  • Administers and assesses new intakes for D&A treatment.
  • Develops and implements D&A treatment plans with the Drug and Alcohol Coordinator
  •  Provides individual counseling, group counseling, and related documentation to youth.
  •  Participates in and documents case consultations, staffings, and MDT's.
  • Problem solves any issues that arise within program and communicate them to supervisor.
  • Writes monthly progress reports and discharge summaries as appropriate.
  • Maintains regular contact and communicates effectively with primary therapist, and case managers, including them in the treatment process and updating them on clients' progress.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • C.A.C. II or C.A.C III Colorado, and;
  • BA/BS Degree in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling,  or other related field and one (1) year of clinical experience, or
  • MA/MS Degree in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or other related field which includes a practicum in a health and human service agency, preferable in a drug and alcohol setting.
