This position implements and maintains operating procedures and provides direct supervision to the administrative and line staff of the facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assigns residents to Case Managers so that each resident receives program services defined by contract.
  • Conducts on-the-job training so that staff is able to perform to job standards.
  • Checks logs to ensure that activities have occurred and that the necessary information is recorded thoroughly and correctly.  Prepares monthly written report for Facility Director.
  • Monitors all resident financial transactions to ensure accuracy and that residents comply with contract and program requirements.
  • Conduct weekly Case Manager meetings and reviews resident files with Case Managers monthly to ensure program plans and weekly discussion and other services are in compliance with the contract.
  • Assumes duties and role of Facility Director in his/her absence.
  • Schedules line staff employees to ensure all shifts are adequately covered and meet contract requirements, keeping overtime at a minimum.
  • May conduct employment interviews in accordance with Director of Human Resources procedures.  May either recommend candidates or make final selection, as designated by Facility Director.
  • Provides leadership to peer or lower-classified employees through the assignment of work, monitoring of progress, review of results, and technical instruction or training.  Prepare performance evaluations on or before the due date.
  • Monitors and supervise all facility food service, when appropriate, for contract compliance, special diets and complaint resolution.
  • Schedules, supervises (and may conduct) the following to maintain control and security of residents and facility:  patdowns, urinalyses, shakedowns, counts, breath tests, and community verifications.
  • Be familiar with Employee Handbook, the Statement of Work, Facility Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual, and Facility Policies and Procedures Manual in order to fairly and consistently administer policies and procedures to staff and residents.
  • Participates in staff meetings by sharing observations and recommendations regarding the facility, residents and staff relations to identify and solve problems and function as a unified team.
  • Maintains confidentiality obtained through job duties regarding employees, vendors, residents, and outside agencies so that sensitive information is only given on a "need to know" basis.
  • Complies with company policies and work rules as described in the company Employee Handbook, the Statement of Work, and the Facility Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Adheres to attendance policies and is available to work any shifts or work overtime to ensure adequate coverage of the program and to ensure the safety and security of the residents.
  • Complies with facility safety rules and takes appropriate corrective action to ensure work is performed in a safe manner and without injury to self or others.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff in a manner that promotes a team spirit and a sense of cooperation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related Field Preferred
  • (5) years of  experience in management or supervision in corrections environment preferred
  • Ability to interpret contract and implement policies and procedures that adhere to contract
  • Ability to develop various reports that provide data required by FL DOC
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide instructions to others
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, polices and procedures
  • Ability to supervise people and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to prioritize work load
  • Write clear reports in English, using correct grammar.  Able to delegate, plan, motivate, control, schedule and train; effectively interface with residents and staff.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
