Woodridge Interventions is seeking a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor to join our team treating adolescents within our residential substance abuse treatment program.

Residential Substance Abuse Counselors are responsible for:

  • Providing group therapy to patients in a safe and therapeutic milieu
  • Facilitating skills and process therapy groups with a substance use focus
  • Providing information to clients’ community-based substance use supports and other treatment programs in the area (as needed)
  • Assessing patients on daily basis for safety, ADLs, and mental status
  • Developing effective therapeutic group relationships that promote positive change in patients
  • Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as other evidenced-based therapies
  • Communicate with patients’ family members or support system, multiple times per week and as needed
  • Conducting assessments of patient's substance use and providing clinical recommendations based on this assessment
  • Engaging in crisis management, as needed
  • Providing individual therapy and safety checks with safety plan as needed
  • Creating and implementing new group curriculum, based on current milieu needs and presentation
  • Communicating and collaborating with interdisciplinary team members on a daily basis to track patient progress and refine treatment goals
  • Charting in our electronic medical records system

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field preferred (High school diploma or equivalency required)
  • Minimum 6 months of previous experience in substance abuse or mental health counseling required
  • Current IL certification as a substance abuse counselor (CADC) or higher licensure (LPC, LSW) 
  • Related work experience with a program specific population (adolescent/adult) in a residential treatment setting required
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
