This position provides a full range of services for clients from referral to discharge. This includes educating customers on youth services programs and coordinating the referral process with referral agencies, clients, parents and other stakeholders for placement of clients at our residential facilities. This position is based out of the Shelby home office and is customarily and regularly engaged away from the employer’s place of business.  This position will require daily travel throughout the assigned territory of Northern Ohio. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Monitor and coordinate referral system, admission and discharge activities in the state of  Ohio.
  • Establish and maintain on going relationships with Judges, Juvenile Court and county Children Services placement staff, other programs and any potential referral sources in each county.
  • Perform general public relations in community when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain liaison with all Abraxas facilities and programs.
  • Keep abreast of information regarding OhioCare, Reclaim Ohio, Title IV-E and other potential funding sources.
  • Assist referral sources in understanding and utilizing these funding structures for placement in Abraxas programs.
  • Make comprehensive observations and recommendations for admissions on a regular basis regarding his/her assessment of problems, opportunities and needs of each referral source.
  • Ensure compliance with Abraxas policies and procedures certification and licensing requirements relating to prospective client interviews and admissions.
  • Conduct prospective client interviews for all programs and assist in related intake/discharge arrangements.
  • Provide consultation, technical assistance, information and training's to Abraxas staff and referral sources.
  • Perform other duties as required by management.

Job Requirements


  • Understanding of Juvenile Justice System, Child Welfare System, Reclaim Ohio, OhioCare and other potential funding sources for referring agencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and two (2) years of experience in clinical services or the Juvenile Justice or Child Welfare System; or, Associate’s Degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of experience in clinical services or the Juvenile Justice or Child Welfare System.
  • Experience in providing customer service and managing customer relationships.
  • Ability to identify problems and needs and take appropriate and timely action.
  • Ability to independently organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Ohio driver’s license.
