Summary of Duties:    

The Assistant Program Director is responsible for assisting in the overall administration of the STOP program.  Reporting to the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director assists in the planning, direction and coordination of all program activities. The Assistant Program Director also assists with selecting and training staff, monitoring program effectiveness, coordinating invoices, submitting required reports, and managing required contract services. The Assistant Program Director will oversee all STOP program operations in the absence of the Program Director.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  1. Assist the Program Director in the day-to-day administrative operations of the STOP Placement Office
  2. Provide direct supervision of the work activities and assignments of administrative staff
  3. Ensure that all clerical, record keeping, data collection, data entry, file maintenance and storage, supply inventory maintenance and ordering, and business machine maintenance and repairs are accomplished as required
  4. Helps provide supervision, direction and oversight of Placement Office staff in the performance of data collection, billing, account reconciliations, reimbursements, and expense reports
  5. Track and report employee hours, leave, and benefit time for payroll purposes
  6. Assist the Program Director in all HR duties and functions. Maintain personnel files, as required by GEO policies and procedures and enter employee data in GEO’s systems of record
  7. Develop schedules, contingency plans, policies, and procedures related to office operations and HR with the approval of the Program Director to ensure all STOP Placement Office operations and HR needs are met in an efficient, cost-effective, timely, and successful manner

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge
    • Understand a variety of models including cognitive behavioral therapy, theories of addiction and dynamics related to substance use and other criminogenic risk factors
    • Recognize the importance of family, social networks, and community systems in the treatment and recovery process
    • Know and comply with program documentation requirements, applicable ethical and professional standards of conduct

 

  • Skills
    • Ability to conduct assessments and/or evaluations, which serve as the basis for CBP placement
    • Provide services appropriate to the personal and cultural identity and language of the Participant
    • Tailor program services to the Participant's stage of dependence, change, or recovery
    • Appropriately use strategies from accepted and culturally appropriate models with Participants with substance use and other criminogenic risk factors

 

  • Abilities
    • Able to establish rapport with Participants, including management of crisis situation and determination of need for additional professional assistance
    • Facilitate the Participant's engagement in the treatment and recovery process
    • Possess the case management skills necessary to implement the case plan, consult as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, and assess ongoing treatment planning efficacy
    • Able to operate a PC with basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Access

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, or related field and two (2) years of experience working with a criminal justice population
  • Additional experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis, or possess six (6) cumulative years of full time administrative experience with a criminal justice population

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • It is desired, but not mandatory, to possess an Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certification recognized by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS)
  • Prior management experience is preferred
